At ASIS Europe, Bruce McIndoe noticed a recurring theme: the industry is muddled, with many trying to do everything – yet true innovation is still lacking. The same โ€˜dots on a mapโ€™ solutions from 20 years ago now might come with a sprinkle of AI, but is that enough?

โ€ŠHere’s what Bruce McIndoe had to say:

“I’m Bruce McIndoe. I’m a Senior Advisor to Restrata, but I have a long history in the market. I was the founder and CEO of iJet International, which became WorldAware, and is now Crisis24, having been acquired by GardaWorld.

It’s been really interesting here at ASIS in Europe and LISC, going around to a lot of the other players in the market. It always surprises me that, one, it’s getting a bit muddled with everyone trying to do everything โ€” and two, there’s nothing truly innovative here.

You know, when we came into the market in 2000 and started putting dots on a map โ€” of people, facilities, and related intelligence โ€” thatโ€™s still whatโ€™s here. Iโ€™m not seeing anything new, other than maybe a little sprinkle of pixie dust in the form of AI on some of these platforms. I was really hoping to see more innovation.

Thatโ€™s really what Iโ€™ve been helping Restrata think about โ€” what they need to be doing. And Iโ€™m a firm believer that no one company can be an assistance company, a technology company, an intelligence company, and a security company all at once. Iโ€™m not sure why people think doing all of that is going to be powerful in the market.

So Restrata, taking the position of: no, we’re going to be a data hub; we’re going to be a platform that allows you to select what you want for your business, for your operation โ€” is the right move. What type of assistance do you need? Is it business travellers going to business centres? Or is it extractive personnel going to high-risk facilities and destinations?

Youโ€™ll want different providers depending on that risk profile.

And thatโ€™s really what excites me about what Restrata is doing: being, as they say, the resilience operating system โ€” the core. Then bring in whatever intelligence is important for you, bring in other applications, bring in assistance providers โ€” and build and make the program your own.”

At Restrata, we think differently. Instead of being just another intelligence or assistance provider, weโ€™re building a resilience operating system (resilienceOS) – a data hub that unifies your security, risk, and operational resilience ecosystem.

โœ… Choose the intelligence sources that you prefer.
โœ… Select the assistance providers that fit your needs.
โœ… Build an operating system that works for your organisation.
